EXTRICATION TRAINING

On Saturday, 8 February 2025, members of the Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department participated in a training exercise to gain proficiency in the use of our newly acquired Hurst 358 Combi Tool (Jaws of Life). The training exercise was conducted by Darryl Foret, a Rescue Specialist with Municipal Emergency Services (MES).

This new tool was acquired with funding obtained from the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program and from ConocoPhillips. Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department was one of one-hundred fire departments nationwide that were selected to receive a $10,000 grant from State Farm, and one of only two departments in the State of Louisiana to receive this funding, which was based on a competitive application process.
