Heat-related emergencies can happen quickly, so remember to stay hydrated, check on elderly family members and neighbors, and limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.

It’s hard to believe that in a place known for scorching summers and high humidity, all of us can look back on that remarkable time nearly eighteen months ago when snow blanketed our entire community.

For a brief moment, familiar streets and bayous were transformed into a winter scene that seemed almost impossible for South Louisiana. While that rare snowfall created memories that will last a lifetime, extreme heat is the weather challenge we know all too well.

From that once-in-a-generation snow day to the hottest days of summer, one thing remains constant: our dedication to protecting and serving this community through every season.
