The monies collected from the Parcel Fee will be used to fund the ongoing operations of the Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department. This includes the purchase and upkeep of fire stations, apparatus, equipment, hose, personal protective equipment, maintenance, fuel, etc.
The Parcel Fee would be the only guaranteed source of income for the Fire District. While the Fire Department holds an annual fair and other fundraisers throughout the year, those are ultimately dependent on weather and participation and are not reliable sources of income.
The public will be able to cast their vote on October 9th, 2021.

The Lafourche Parish Council appoints board members for a 2 year term. Prospective members must fill out an application with the parish and the Parish Council must approve the nomination with a majority vote.
