2018 Recap

1/4/2019

To our community:

We would like to thank everyone for a successful year. Without the continuous support of our members, community, and surrounding areas, we would not be able to provide the quality services our community has come to expect.

2018 was certainly filled with many great accomplishments, but we also faced many challenges. Due to an outstanding fire chief of many years retiring, we started the new year under new leadership. Later in the year, a highly dedicated President also retired. As a result, the department operated under new leadership for the majority of the year.

Some of our accomplishments in 2018 were:
  1. A successful, record-breaking fair
  2. Maintaining a Class 5 Fire Protection Rating under the PIAL
  3. Obtaining grant money to purchase new hose and equipment
  4. Purchasing an additional fire apparatus with new capabilities
  5. A successful Car Show & Cook Off
  6. Adding three additional credentialed Emergency Medical Responders to our ranks (Congratulations Blair, Julie & Crystal)
  7. Successful weekly BINGO events

Our members, community, and supporters certainly do not get enough recognition for supporting our efforts, so THANK YOU to all of you who helped make 2018 a success.

Thanks to our dedicated board members who continually focus on the well-being of the organization.

Thanks to our dedicated assistant chief's and officers who spend countless hours maintaining equipment, responding to calls, and leading members to success.

Thanks to our members for their remarkable dedication in responding to calls, receiving continuing education, and their overall support of the organization.

Thanks to the Lafourche Parish Fire Protection 8-B board for their unwavering support of the well-being of the organization.

Also, thanks to all our other supporters, including our elected officials, the Choctaw community and surrounding communities, surrounding departments, dispatchers, and surrounding companies.

While it is impossible to specifically thank every individual for their support, please know that we are certainly grateful for each and everyone of you and for your continued support of the Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department.

We will continue to strive for success and work hard to make 2019 an outstanding year of achievements and service.

Thanks,

Cody Rink
Fire Chief
