MARTHA WOODS-SHAREEF

On Friday, August 20, 2021, we pay tribute to Martha Woods-Shareef.

​On August 20, 2008, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Martha Woods-Shareef, while responding to a burglary call at approximately 2:30 AM, was struck by a stolen pick-up truck being driven by the suspect she was attempting to arrest.

​Deputy Woods-Shareef suffered a broken neck, lacerated liver, collapsed left lung, heart damage and broken ribs to which she succumbed.

​Deputy Woods-Shareef had served with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. Prior to her time with LPSO, She worked for the City Of Thibodaux (1983-1992) and the Lafourche Parish School Board (1979-1982).

​She is a graduate of Thibodaux High School and Nicholls State University (Bachelor of Arts: Psychology Major, Sociology Minor). She is survived by her husband and daughter.
