The Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department held its annual election of officers and board members on October 18, 2023. After being elected as Fire Chief for six terms starting in 2018, Chief Cody Rink elected to not seek candidacy for the Fire Chief position.
Long term member Willie Andras was nominated by the membership for the Fire Chief role and ultimately was unopposed in the election. In addition, Gerald Andras Sr. was nominated by the membership for the Assistant Fire Chief role and was also unopposed in the election.
The father and son duo will take over the reins on January 1, 2024. Chief-elect Andras will be the fourth Fire Chief to lead the organization since incorporation in 1983. Both Chief-elect Andras and Assistant Chief-elect Andras have held various positions within the organization including President, Assistant Chief, and Captain.
Since incorporation, the Choctaw Volunteer Fire Department has faced many challenges and realized many great achievements. Throughout the years, the organization has strived for success, in the process receiving outstanding support from the community and surrounding areas. Many great accomplishments have been realized through the generations, much of which has been completed recently. Along with improved facilities, the department is awaiting delivery of a brand new ‘firetruck’ in the fourth quarter of next year. This will certainly enhance the department's operations and help provide fire protection to the community. Please help us by congratulating them on their accomplishments and wish them the best in their endeavors.
