THINKING OF OUR FRIEND

Mr. Onda Templeton (1949-2022)

As we get ready for another Choctaw Fireman's Fair, one of our friends -- a man who was kind of a local legend -- is once again at the top of our minds: Mr. Onda Templeton. A few of us actually spoke of him in conversation yesterday.

Onda was a school crossing guard and deputy with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for many years, and at this time of year, he was usually getting ready to help keep everyone safe at our annual Choctaw Fireman’s Fair.

This will be our second year without him being here doing what he did best: serving the citizens of Lafourche Parish. He will forever be missed for his dedication, loyalty, professionalism, sense of humor, and some of the corniest jokes ever told
