The National Weather Service has issued a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT for upper and lower Lafourche Parish, including the Choctaw, Chackbay and Bayou Boeuf areas, until 11:00 PM.

​Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with this storm.

Stay At Home Order Extended

Today, Governor John Bel Edwards announced he will extend Louisiana’s Stay at Home order until May 15 to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19. Louisiana does not currently meet the White House criteria for entering Phase One of reopening.

Burn Ban Lifted

By order of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, the statewide burn ban issued on March 25, 2020 is LIFTED effective IMMEDIATELY.

Please remain aware of & compliant with any local restrictions on burning.

Face Masks

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Lafourche Parish Government will distribute cloth face masks donated by Haynes Corporation at six (6) locations throughout the parish. The distribution will occur at set locations shown in the image below from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM or until the supply runs out. Each car will be given one pack, containing five masks. The masks are washable and can be reused. #COVID19 #LafourcheStrong

Governor Edwards'
 Statewide 'Stay at Home Order' remains in Effect.

All non-essential businesses must CLOSE. Click HERE to see a list of essential businesses.

Gatherings are limited to less than 10 people.

Parish President Chaisson has ordered additional restrictions for Lafourche Parish. Click HERE to view the press release.

Businesses can only operate between 6:00AM and 7:00PM. Restaurants can stay open until 10:00PM (carryout/drive-thru/delivery only).

Drive-thru pharmacies may continue to operate around the clock (drive-thru only).

Truck stops must close the front convenience store, but the rear entrance may remain open for truckers only.

Grocery stores, pharmacies, and big box stores limited are to 50% of fire marshal capacity and are to close lawn/garden centers.

A statewide BURN BAN remains in effect.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office offices are open, but the public is screened before entering. Residents encouraged to use online services:

Shooting Range is closed to the public until further notice.

Sheriff’s sales of seized property and movables have been suspended until at least 4/30/2020.

On-site inmate visitation suspended, but video visitation available. Click HERE for more information.

Lafourche Parish Government: offices CLOSED to the public. Residents should use online services.

17th Judicial District: all court trials and appearances suspended through May 1st.

Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court: open weekdays 8:30AM-1:00PM. Business is being conducted outside the door of the Courthouse Annex. Call (985) 447-4841 before arriving for service. Issuance of birth/death certificates & passports has been suspended until further notice.

The Lafourche Parish District Attorney's office is CLOSED to public. Call (985) 447-2003 for assistance.

The Lafourche Parish Assessor's office is CLOSED. For property bonds, call (985) 447-7242. Click HERE for more information.

The Lafourche Parish Registrar of Voters office is CLOSED to the public.

The Lafourche Parish Animal Shelter is closed to the public and all owner surrenders have been suspended. Stray intake reduced to emergency only. Spay/neuter program suspended. Adoptions  are available online.

All Lafourche Parish Libraries are CLOSED to the public. Virtual Library is available.

The Lafourche Parish Water District Number 1 office is CLOSED. Customers encouraged to make payments online or by using the dropbox outside of the office entrance. If needing to pay a deposit, please call (985) 532-6924.

All Senior Centers CLOSED

All Medicaid Regional Offices are CLOSED. Online services are available.

All Office of Motor Vehicles offices are closed. Some driver’s license expiration dates have been extended. Click HERE for more information.

All K-12 schools are closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. 'Distance learning' is taking place.

COVID-19 GENERAL INFORMATION

COVID-19 is primarily spread through the air by coughing & sneezing, close personal contact, and touching an object with the virus on it then touching your mouth/nose/eyes. To protect yourself, wash your hands often (for 20 seconds) with soap and water, avoid touching your mouth/nose/eyes, and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces daily. Symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you are having symptoms or believe you may have come into contact with an infected person, call your doctor. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 and let them know you may have COVID-19.
