Highway 20 Southbound near the Saint James Parish/Lafourche Parish line is SHUTDOWN due to a motor vehicle crash. UPDATE @ 9:00 PM
One lane of traffic has been reopened. UPDATE @ 7:20 PM Entergy is on site and waiting on additional equipment to arrive. The roadway will be closed for at least another hour. Once the roadway is cleared, Entergy will continue working to restore power to the area. Passed on from other agency: URGENT: Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department is on scene of a crash in the 1100 block of Highway 20 near Edna Robinson Lane. Highway 20 is completely closed in both directions — and will remain closed — for an extended amount of time. Please use an alternate route. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be intermittent lane closures on Louisiana Highway 20 near the bridge at Bayou Chevreuil.
These closures will begin Thursday, July 23rd, and will take place between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Motorists will still have access to travel the roadway, but should anticipate delays as flaggers facilitate and direct traffic. These short, intermittent lane closures are expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting, as crews clear trees/debris for the upcoming utility relocations. DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
